If you
are interested in what it takes to get a community theatre performance
onstage, getting in on the beginning of the production is a highly
enlightening experience.
Auditions for a production are held 3 to 4 months or more before
performances are scheduled after the RRCT Board members have each read
a script and determined that it is within our capability with regard
to the age and gender of character roles, the limitations of stage
space and set requirements, and the availability of theatre equipment
and technicians.
By the time auditions are called, RRCT has obtained permission from
the playwright company, paid the Royalties in advance (required) to
present the play, and we have selected a Director.
Once the Director and actors decide on a rehearsal schedule, those
of us not acting or directing start to work on gathering props and set
furniture, preparing the playbill and tickets, planning intermission
refreshments, designing and distributing flyers, sewing or altering
clothing and accessories for costumes, and recording sound effects.
The last 2-3 weeks before opening night find all of us at
rehearsals, building and painting the set, placing set furnishings and
props, evaluating the effect and appropriateness of costumes, and
adding special lighting and sound effects to the performance.
Whether you are interested in acting or not, you are welcome to
attend auditions for upcoming Red River Community Theatre productions.

Auditions are normally called 8-12 weeks prior to the scheduled
opening night performance. Rehearsals begin as soon as the Director
has selected the cast.
